Overview:
Zero Point Upadhye Foundation's "Healthy Meals for Growing Minds" initiative aims to ensure that children attending local schools in and around Mahishawadagi receive regular, nutritious meals during the school day. Good nutrition supports concentration, learning and overall health, and reliable school meals can reduce absenteeism and help children make the most of their education.
What the program will do:
- Provide freshly prepared, balanced meals during the school day, following simple nutrition guidelines appropriate for growing children.
- Source ingredients locally wherever possible to support village producers and ensure fresher food.
- Implement basic nutrition and hygiene education sessions for children and school staff, promoting handwashing and healthy eating habits.
- Support safe food preparation by providing training for kitchen volunteers and simple, low-cost improvements to school cooking and storage practices.
- Encourage school-level initiatives such as kitchen gardens where feasible, to supplement meal menus and teach children about food production.
How donations are used:
Donations will be directed to procuring safe, nutritious ingredients; supporting meal preparation logistics (kitchen supplies, safe storage, transport); providing basic training materials for cooks and volunteers; and modest program administration to ensure consistent delivery. The foundation will maintain transparent accounting and provide periodic program updates to donors.
Who benefits:
The program is focused on school-aged children in communities served from our base in Mahishawadagi, Tq. Athani, District Belagavi. It is designed to complement classroom learning by addressing nutritional needs that can affect concentration, growth and school participation.
How you can help:
Supporters can contribute one-time donations or recurring gifts to sustain meal provision and nutrition activities. Contributions at any level help maintain daily meals, buy fresh ingredients, fund basic kitchen improvements, and support nutrition education. Donors interested in in-kind support (kitchen equipment or seed material for school gardens) are welcome to contact the foundation to discuss current needs.
Accountability and reporting:
Zero Point Upadhye Foundation will provide regular narrative updates on program activities and general financial summaries related to this cause. Detailed beneficiary counts or personal data will not be shared publicly; information will be handled with respect for privacy and safety.
